Our History
Flooring & More Carpet One started in 1964 as the retail outlet for Columbus Mills, Inc. located right next door at 4800 River Road in Columbus, Georgia. Because of its affiliation with the mill, the store originally conducted business under the name "Columbus Carpet Mill Store," a name the store kept even after adding a more diversified product line including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile and rugs. In fact, the store's physical facility has expanded to 12,000 square feet of showroom and office space plus an 18,000 square foot warehouse to support the breadth of the current product offerings.
The ownership remained unchanged until 1998 when Beaulieu Group purchased Columbus Mills. The Columbus Carpet Mill Store was included as part of this purchase, but Beaulieu wanted to remain focused on its manufacturing strengths and opted to sell the retail store which it did the following year. In 1999, Marc and Barbara de Courcy-Ireland purchased the store from Beaulieu. They successfully ran the business for the next decade and were responsible for several additions to the store and its product lines including the dedicated Rug Gallery and the Tile showroom at the current entrance to the store.
In 2008, the de Courcy's sold the store to its third and current owners Barbara and Al Gaston. The Gaston's bring a diverse management background to the business, not the least of which is a passion for excellent customer service. They are excited to be at the helm of the business as it approaches its 50th anniversary of service to the Chattahoochee Valley area.
