About Columbus Flooring and More

Our Staff

Danny Barnette, Sales Manager

danny barnetteDanny has twenty-four years of experience in the flooring industry, most of those with Flooring & More Carpet One where he has watched the business grow and evolve.

“I’m a big sports fan and love a good concert.

I honestly enjoy the many facets of my role with Flooring & More Carpet One, including helping my teammates, but especially helping the customer make that perfect flooring selection for their home! Smiling faces, the right price, selection, and most of all great customer service – that’s us! Ask me about the Carpet One Beautiful Guarantee.”

Letha Barnette, Sales Consultant

Letha BarnetteI have been in Columbus most of my life. I have worked in sales about 30 years, several at Gateway Lincoln Mercury and the past seven here at Flooring & More Carpet One.

I enjoy gardening, painting and mosaic tile.

What makes working here so much fun for me is the opportunity to help people with something special…their home. I think it’s very, very important to educate customers on different flooring so they can make the best choice for their lifestyle. I have made a lot of good friends here instead of just good customers!

Krystal ColemanOffice Manager

Krystal ColemanI started in the flooring business with Columbus Mills, Inc. and now serve as the office manager with Flooring & More Carpet One with over thirteen years experience in the manufacturing and retail flooring industry. I often rely on my experiences from manufacturing to help me with day to day operations at our store. It is an asset to be familiar with the applications and processes of the manufacturers when relating to the needs of our customers.

It is my goal to greet every customer, when I am on the floor, so they know that we are thankful for the opportunity to serve their flooring needs. You can go just about anywhere and be ignored; I try to never let that happen here. Our sales staff is made up of industry veterans who are committed to making the entire experience with us pleasurable!

And we have fun with our work. Some of my fellow co-workers enjoy reminding me of the time I fell out of a chair while leaning over too far to pick up a piece of paper. Although I had an audience who gave me a perfect “10″, I was grateful there were no customers around to witness the event!

As a resident of Chattahoochee County, I am involved in many civic endeavors as well as serving as a member of the Board of Education. I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and daughter as well as gardening, crafts and sharing my pillow with our dog Parker.

Al Gaston, Owner/COO

al gastonAl and his wife Barbara purchased the Columbus Carpet Mill Store in February 2008 and have worked diligently since to educate themselves and the public about the many choices and options available in flooring today. As Al likes to say, “We’re in the solutions business” in the simple belief that developing appropriate flooring solutions for clients, rather than simply taking an order, provides clients with longer lasting, better value for their money. In fact, it was the breadth of product offerings at the Columbus Carpet Mill Store that led Al and Barbara to change to store’s name to the more meaningful and representative “Flooring & More”. They further added the “Carpet One” designation indicative of the national presence and strength of product support available through the store’s membership in this exclusive buying group.

Al enjoys outdoor activities such as golf, camping, skiing and flying. He is absolutely manic about customer service! Al and his family came to Columbus in 1995 to join Tom’s Foods and has made Columbus home ever since. He believes in community involvement and as a member of Rotary, takes great pride in that organization’s humanitarian works.

Barbara Gaston, Owner/CEO

barbara gastonBarbara purchased the Columbus Carpet Mill Store in February 2008 with the help of her husband Al who is also active in the business. Early in her career, she worked as a design consultant with Southeastern Galleries in Charleston, South Carolina. She says that was so long ago she has forgotten everything but her recent Columbus customers would differ. Barbara has a wonderful eye for color and materials. She handles purchasing for the rug gallery and helps customers with challenging projects.

Prior to taking ownership of the store, Barbara worked with IBM and more recently in development and fundraising with Brookstone School, Columbus State University, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus. When away from the store, Barbara stays busy with gardening, community activities, travel and reading.

Chris Harman, Sales Consultant

chris harmanExperience in the industry: started in 2008 building on 22 years of retail and professional sales experience

What I do that others don’t: build a relationship with my clients

Why shop here: “We need the money!” Our business is locally owned and we take a genuine interest in our clients…they are not simply a number but a client for life.

Success story: I met a client on the showroom floor that was looking for a rug to make one room in their house “liveable” during major renovations. By taking an interest in them and their needs, I wound up taking care of all of their flooring needs (beyond that first rug) including kitchen tiles. But the best part is that I have made new friends!

Hobbies, interests: gardening, biking, exercising and my dog Harry.

Billie Jordan, Warehouse Service

billie jordanI came to Columbus with the Military, retiring from the Army in 1995, after which I was a warehouse manager for Kinnett, Fieldbrook, and Parmalat Dairies. As a warehouse employee at Flooring & More Carpet One, I strive to create better ideals and ways to keep product organized so customers can easily see all of our merchandise with ease.

My past time is collecting U.S. coins.

Lawrence McCoy, Warehouse Manager

lawrence mccoyLawrence has been with the Company since 1996 and became the warehouse manager in 2000.

“I am a graduate of Central High School (GO RED DEVILS!!!) and a former sergeant in the U. S. Army. My wife Katilya and I have a beautiful two year old daughter, Lauren who keeps us on our toes!! We are members of New Central Baptist Church in Phenix City.

I enjoy my position with the Company because it allows me the opportunity to directly interact with our customers; I believe that sets us apart from many other floor covering stores.”

Glen Martin, Service Coordinator

Glen MartinWhat I do to service my customers that others do not:

At Steamatic, we have a patented re-circulating water system that allows us to keep our water at a constant temperature up to 195 degrees. This helps break down stubborn grease and soil that gets embedded in your carpet. You will not find this unique capability in non-Steamatic systems.

Why choose Steamatic?

Our trained technicians are IICRC (International Institute of Carpet and Rug Cleaners) certified. We use only Steamatic tested and approved tools and chemicals. We are locally owned and operated and guarantee your satisfaction with our work.

A recent story about a customer I helped:

We had a customer whose mother had passed away and her father was in the hospital. The family was coming from out of town to her father’s home, and she wanted the area rugs in the home cleaned before they got there, all eighteen of them! She called Steamatic, and we went to the home, picked up the rugs, cleaned, delivered and re-laid them before the family arrived. Our customer really appreciated the job that we had done.

A funny story about me:

I was driving with my ten year old daughter and father-in-law to look at an old car. My father-in-law loves to fix up old cars. While we were driving, a wasp flew in the window and landed on my lap. I almost wrecked my truck with them inside with me. I can’t tell you how much I had to try to keep from running off the road! Well, my daughter simply looked at me and asked, “are you a little afraid of a wasp, Dad?” “Just a little!” was my reply.

Hobbies, interests, pets:

I love to fish, water ski, ride four-wheelers, and take long walks on the beach (NOT!).

Becky MirabellaMerchandising Manager

becky mirabellaBecky’s love for color and design came at a very young age. While her friends were dressing their Barbie & Ken for a big date, Becky was decorating Barbie’s house. She made her own furniture and bedding. Old carpet samples became Barbie’s bedroom. She hated the VCT floors in her own bedroom and always dreamed of lush thick carpets and glossy slick wood floors. Well, Becky grew up and……..she still enjoys making her customers happy, meeting their needs with the best flooring choices for their specific needs and wants. Sometimes you’ve just got to have what your heart desires.

Becky grew up in Harris County and is living there with her family now. What could be better than being married to your high school sweetheart for over twenty-five years, having a teenage son and a daughter that still think you are cool, and the unconditional love of your dog and crazy kitty. Becky enjoys cooking, eating, flower gardening and singing in the choir at her church.

Steve Norman, Commercial/Contract Salessteve norman

A Columbus native, I have been in the flooring business for over 40 years, a large part of which was at the old family owner Norman and Storey Floor Covering on 12th Avenue (I literally grew up in this business).

I enjoy golf and fishing with my wife and friends, but keeping the grandkids on Friday nights has always been special. I attended CSU and Auburn University where I graduated with a degree in education. I work hard at obtaining commercial and industrial contracts with local and regional general contractors, as well as providing flooring installations for many of the top homebuilders in our area.

I believe firmly in giving a personal touch to my customer’s needs to ensure a pleasant experience that exceeds expectations in order to build long term business relationships. Mainly, I am a commercial specialist, but I still enjoy working with friends and acquaintances to help with that special project at home!

Frank Pogue, Estimator

frank pogueFrank has worked with the Columbus Carpet Mill Store for over thirty years as an installer, and he is a gifted mechanic who understands that there is only one way to do a job…the right way!

When asked, Frank accepted the challenge of helping develop a new position within the store, the position that he currently fills as estimator. This keeps Frank out on the road quite a bit taking measurements of folks homes to make sure they get the right amount of material for their needs and that the installation is planned correctly. His years of experience as an expert installer, not to mention his natural enjoyment of meeting new people, have served him well in this role. He takes pride in giving quality customer service for flooring choices and installation.

When Franks is away from work, he enjoys golf and fishing.
